Business Management

I am making this glossary to help my English colleagues to better understand the terms in business management and administrative technique. I do it during my English class.

accounting: It's a noun; the action or process of keeping financial accounts.; Example: Moreover, stricter rules now exist regarding the disclosure of director remuneration which is a preventative measure against 'slush-fund-ACCOUNTING'; understating quarterly profits as a precautionary measure to protect manager remuneration.; en: Comptabilité
advertisement: It's a noun; a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy.; Example: Advertising is used to promote a product or service; en: publicité
Communication: It's a noun; the imparting or exchanging of information or news.; Example: COMMUNICATION: Employees know whom to report to should a problem occur, whether that is the line manager, farm manager or university health and safety board.; en: Communication
Customer: It's a noun; a person or organization that buys goods or services from a store or business.; Example: Pearson's correlation As an additional and final point it should be added, that for the whole investigated sample, the factors most strongly and positively correlated with the spending on organic foods were household size, annual income and CUSTOMER's age.; en: Client
customer service: It's a noun; The assistance and advice provided by a company to those people who buy or use its products or services.; Example: Customer service is important for a business.; en: service client
development: It's a noun; the process of developing or being developed.; Example: Research and DEVELOPMENT - The farm must research organic systems suitable for its own through existing publications and the experience of farmers who have already changed to organic.; en: Développement
Economy: It's a noun; the wealth and resources of a country or region, especially in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services.; Example: It seems much more honest to admit that a transition to a more market oriented ECONOMY is needed on both sides of what was the iron curtain, and to set a transition period and a time horizon for a convergence towards a genuinely market oriented CAP [in a wider EU]; en: Économie
employ: It's a verb; give work to (someone) and pay them for it.; Example: Semiotics and Organisational Analysis techniques detail the necessity to describe organisations, and the E-Business systems they wish to EMPLOY, in terms of communication - capturing the stages, processes and actors involved, so that E-Business can be aligned to support the business functions, not be at odds with them.; en: employer
finance: It's a noun; the management of large amounts of money, especially by governments or large companies; Example: FINANCE - The goal that I set is designed to require minimum extra FINANCE.; en: Finance
human resource: It's a noun.; The personnel of a business or organization, especially when regarded as a significant asset.; Example: The division of a business that is charged with finding, recruiting, screening, and training job applicants.; en: Ressource humaine
Income: Its a noun; money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments.; Example: The Farming systems development approach of CATI is based on promoting a rural and urban development program at the local level (farmers, associations, communities, and schools), in partnership with municipalities, promote sustainable rural development through competitive agro-business, generate employment and INCOME, and preserve the environment.; en: revenue
Income: It's a noun; money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments.; Example: If outputs of free range and barn systems are the same so they go just a little further and maximise INCOME.; en: Revenue

internship: Its'a noun; the position of a student or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification.; Example: After my INTERNSHIP programme was finished, I have taken up a position of an architectural assistant at White Design Associates in Bristol, where I stayed until December 2004.; en: stage
leadership: It's a noun; the action of leading a group of people or an organization.; Example: With consideration to all of the aspects argued above, it is rational to acknowledge transformational LEADERSHIP's positive impacts on organizational effectiveness, while also keep open-eyed on the latent danger from transformational LEADERSHIP.; en: direction
Manager: It's a noun; a person responsible for controlling or administering all or part of a company or similar organization.; Example: Not all of these roles will carry equal importance for me as a farm MANAGER, but I can guarantee that I will need to employ each of them at some point during my career as a MANAGER.; en: Manageur
Marketing: It's a noun.; Marketing the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.; Example: Marketing is used to analyze the market and consult information to reach consumers; en: Commercialisation
Salary: It's a noun; a fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly or biweekly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee, especially a professional or white-collar worker.; Example: The mother's motives are out of love whereas a waiter wants to please the guest to ensure continued employment and a SALARY- but is this wrong?; en: Salaire
Store: It's a noun; Place where goods are kept.; Example: It has 1200 stores across the UK, one of which is The University of campus STORE (the focus of this assignment and from now referred to as 'the STORE'). The STORE was opened in 1998, employs 30 staff in total with 2 full time managers and has a yearly turnover of £4.1million.; en: Magasin
telecommunication: It's a noun; communication over a distance by cable, telegraph, telephone, or broadcasting; Example: On the other, the development of hi-tech, internet and TELECOMMUNICATION, enable consumers to access full information on products and services, read reviews, and compare prices (Deloitte, 2007).; en: Télécommunication
